2002 Ford ZX2, Drive or Overdrive?

For almost 2 years I have driven my ZX2 in Overdrive mode. The other day, my friend said, "why are you in overdrive? you should be in plain old drive." My question is which is better to use? So far I have had no problems using overdrive, on a full tank i get almost 200 miled to gallon.
