Are people in general more drawn to the dark side rather than the light side?

I realize that human beings like engaging in various forms of pleasure, whether it be eating, drinking, having , playing sports, or pursuing some creative endeavor. That being said, though, it seems that human beings are drawn by and large to the dark side, also. After all, we also like horror movies, suspense, and mysteries, and even books and movies with happy endings have some element of tension or conflict. Not only that, but even the pleasures I named earlier, such as eating, drinking, , and sport, also often have their dark side. In general, do people prefer darkness over light? Explain your answer.
